I picked up the nickname Barney many years ago in the Navy, having a very common first name nicknames became useful. Well, the 2 most popular nicknames for me were Barney and Clyde, luckily not at the same time.
I am not Barney Fife, that would be an insult to Don Knots. Besides Fife was much more masculine than I am. I am NOT purple either. I joked one day about being fuchsia and ended up with with the name fuchsia ferret.
My humor ranges from dry to absurd to sarcastic.

Hi! Merry Christmas and all that. I am surrounded by ferrets milling around my feet, begging for me to give them treats. :) They've already eaten leftover chicken, sampled the divinity candy (which is really bad for them but I spoil them). Earlier they sampled my husband's cream cheese from his bagel. He's turned them into terrible beggars!
